  5. Mike Russ, (Nazis, Aliens or UFO?) at Denver Airport - Oct 25,2007
  6. 25 Oct 2007 at 6:00pm
Mike Russ will give insight on what is so unique about the Denver Airport. Are there 8 sub-basements, low- and high-frequency sounds that make people sick? What about the fenced lots with barbed wire along their tops pointing in? Are there whole buildings that were constructed below ground level and then buried as a government excuse because they were "built wrong?". How about workers who were terminated and “shut up?” Nazi’s, Aliens and UFOs?

  33. Airports, Airlines Develop Plans to Handle Extended Passenger Delays

pAirports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) was the host to a conference last week to facilitate the creation of plans to accommodate passengers inconvenienced during irregular operations (IROPS), which I covered in the Jan. 23 a href="http://www.aviationweek.com/publication/aviationdaily/loggedin/AvnowStoryDispla y.do?fromChannel=aviationdailyamp;pubKey=aviationdailyamp;issueDate=2008-01-23amp;sto ry=xml/aviationdaily_xml/2008/01/23/10.xmlamp;headline=Airports%2C+Airlines+Conferenc e+Helps+Plan+For+Irregular+Ops" target="_blank" mce_href="http://www.aviationweek.com/publication/aviationdaily/loggedin/AvnowStoryDi splay.do?fromChannel=aviationdailyamp;pubKey=aviationdailyamp;issueDate=2008-01-23amp ;story=xml/aviationdaily_xml/2008/01/23/10.xmlamp;headline=Airports%2C+Airlines+Confe rence+Helps+Plan+For+Irregular+Ops"issue /a(subscribers only) of emAviation Daily/em.nbsp; Representatives attending the conference included airports, airlines, the Air Transport Association (ATA), passenger advocacy groups, the Dept. of Transportation, the Transportation Security Administration and Customs and Border Patrol./p pThe conference was a follow-up to a conference sponsored by Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in September, covered in the Oct. 1, 2007, a href="http://www.aviationweek.com/search/AvnowSearchResult.do?reference=xml/aviationd aily_xml/2007/10/01/29.xmlamp;query=Dallas%2FFort+Worth+International+Airport" target="_blank" mce_href="http://www.aviationweek.com/search/AvnowSearchResult.do?reference=xml/aviat iondaily_xml/2007/10/01/29.xmlamp;query=Dallas%2FFort+Worth+International+Airport"iss ue/a (subscribers only) of emAviation Daily/em.nbsp; The conference happened right before the DOT Inspector General came out with a report offering 10 recommendations to help DOT, airline and airports improve customer service for passengers.nbsp; You can read my post on that a href="http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/blogs/commercial_aviation/TowersAndTarmacs/index .jsp?plckController=Blogamp;plckScript=blogScriptamp;plckElementId=blogDestamp;plckBl ogPage=BlogViewPostamp;plckPostId=Blog%3a8427003a-9a63-4261-aa47-5e4b356bb224Post%3a3 69a02c3-92f6-49b4-b55c-b51dfdc988eb" target="_blank" mce_href="http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/blogs/commercial_aviation/TowersAndTarmacs/i ndex.jsp?plckController=Blogamp;plckScript=blogScriptamp;plckElementId=blogDestamp;pl ckBlogPage=BlogViewPostamp;plckPostId=Blog%3a8427003a-9a63-4261-aa47-5e4b356bb224Post %3a369a02c3-92f6-49b4-b55c-b51dfdc988eb"here/a./p p“We had seven airlines and 12 airports at the September conference.nbsp; We invited a mix of regional and major hub airports, along with representatives from ATA and ACI-NA to get the broadest depth of understanding for our group,” said Jim Crites, DFW’s executive vice president of operations.nbsp; “The main issue we addressed then was providing clear and consistent communications with all the stakeholders involved.nbsp; We want the airports, the airlines, all on the same page when it comes to customer service issues.”/p pThere needs to be clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders involved in IROPS, said Crites.nbsp; quot; For example, airports and runways are clear and open for business.nbsp; Butnbsp; operations might still be disrupted, which upsets customers, quot; he said.nbsp; quot;We need to make sure that airlines, airports, TSA and Customs are all on same page with customers.quot;/p pOne area identified during the DFW conference was concessions when flights land or are canceled late at night, said Crites.nbsp; quot;People still need food and water.nbsp; We encouraged airports to work with their concessionaires to make arrangements to open when customers are in the terminal and need service, quot; he said.nbsp; /p pAnother issue was with flight monitoring, said Crites.nbsp; quot;Airports, airlines and FAA can work together to track flights so if someone sees something that could become an issue, we can work to keep ramps available and not strand passengers, quot; he said./p pquot; We hope to develop a tool box of best practices that can apply for different situations so that airports can develop a plan in advance of an IROPs,quot; said Crites.nbsp; nbsp;quot;ACI-NA and ATA embraced the idea of a D.C. conference to formalize and solidify broader outreach to all airports and airlines.nbsp; We want to share best practices and lessons learned from airports and airlines.quot;/p pThe conference yielded a long list of best practices and issues that need to be addressed, Richard Marchi, ACI-NA’s senior adviser for regulatory affairs.nbsp; “We want to create a list and have it available within a month for our members and the airlines,” he said./p pAnd DOT has named members of its Tarmac Delay Task Force, which was covered in the Jan. 24 a href="http://www.aviationweek.com/publication/aviationdaily/loggedin/AvnowStoryDispla y.do?fromChannel=aviationdailyamp;pubKey=aviationdailyamp;issueDate=2008-01-24amp;sto ry=xml/aviationdaily_xml/2008/01/24/05.xmlamp;headline=DOT+Names+Tarmac+Delay+Task+Fo rce" target="_blank" mce_href="http://www.aviationweek.com/publication/aviationdaily/loggedin/AvnowStoryDi splay.do?fromChannel=aviationdailyamp;pubKey=aviationdailyamp;issueDate=2008-01-24amp ;story=xml/aviationdaily_xml/2008/01/24/05.xmlamp;headline=DOT+Names+Tarmac+Delay+Tas k+Force"issue/a (subscribers only) of emAviation Daily/em.nbsp; 35. Latin American Aviation Focuses On Safety
  36. 17 Jan 2008 at 2:55pm
pThe Latin American equivalent of the Air Transport Association, known as ALTA, is making safety improvements its chief concern this year. /p pALTA is working with countries throughout the Latin American and Caribbean region to have all carriers based their registered and compliant with IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) standards. It also is striving to force governments to insist that any airline that operates to the region by IOSA certified. /p pAirlines that fly to and within Latin America also are facing higher taxes and landing fees in various parts of the region. The Brazilian authorities, for example, have proposed raising landing fees at Sao Paulo Airport by 5,000%. ALTA hopes the Brazilians will bend to travel and tourism interests who are fighting this action, said ALTA Executive Director Alex de Gunten. /p pFor a 6:16 minute segment from de Gunten's recent roundtable with emAviation Week/em reporters and editors, click a href="http://aviationweek.typepad.com/airports/files/alta_final_2.mp3"here./a/p
